The short version
INCREMNT keeps a hosted backup of your workout data to operate and improve the service. Your profile and Apple Health data stay on your phone. Analytics are anonymous. We don't sell data or show ads.
What stays on your device
Your profile (name, bodyweight, height, age) and any Apple Health data you grant access to live on your phone. We can't see them unless you turn on AI Coach (see below).
Hosted backup
From first launch, INCREMNT stores a backup of your workout data on our servers so the service can operate, features like the incremnt CLI and web dashboard can function, and we can improve the product over time. The app works offline — uploads happen in the background when you're online.
What we store:
- Your workout history, programs, custom exercises, strength plans, and cycle summaries
- A random per-install identifier so your device can reach its own backup
- Auth tokens as one-way hashes (we can't see the raw token)
What we do not store at this stage: your name, email, profile, body measurements, or Apple Health data. Hosted on Render (PostgreSQL, US). Each upload overwrites the previous snapshot — only one copy is kept.
We may analyze aggregated, de-identified workout data to improve recommendations, progression logic, and the overall product. This analysis never identifies individual users.
To delete the hosted backup, use Reset All Data in Settings (no sign-in required) or email support@incremnt.app.
Connected account (optional)
If you sign in with Apple or Google, we additionally store your email and account ID so you can access your workouts from the web dashboard at incremnt.app, the CLI, and future devices. Signing in also unlocks restore, social features, and AI Coach. Sessions expire after 30 days.
To delete a connected account and all associated data, use account deletion in Settings or email support@incremnt.app.
AI Coaching (opt-in)
AI Coach is off by default. Before any data is shared, the app presents an in-app consent disclosure explaining what data is sent and who receives it. You must agree before AI features activate.
When enabled, the following data is sent to INCREMNT's servers to generate coaching insights:
- Your workout data: exercises, sets, weights, reps
- Your active training program structure
- Enabled health metrics: sleep, HRV, heart rate, body weight (you control which ones in AI Coach Settings)
- Questions you type in Ask Coach
INCREMNT's servers forward this data to OpenRouter, a third-party AI routing service, which routes it to AI models including Anthropic Claude and Google Gemini to generate coaching responses. No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID) are included in AI requests. OpenRouter states that it does not sell personal data and has opted out of model training where possible. For full details on how OpenRouter handles data, see OpenRouter's privacy policy and terms of service.
You can turn off AI Coach at any time in Settings. When disabled, no further data is sent to OpenRouter. You control which data sources the AI coach can access in AI Coach Settings.
Social Features (opt-in, requires connected account)
If you use social features, we store:
- Your social profile: display name, username, avatar photo
- Posts: captions and photos you attach to workout activities
- Comments you leave on other users' activities
- Follow relationships and privacy preferences
- Mute, block, and report actions
Your social profile is visible to other users based on your privacy setting (private, followers only, or discoverable). Photos are stored on Render's object storage (US).
You can delete individual posts by editing them. To delete your social profile and all associated data, use account deletion in Settings or email support@incremnt.app.
Apple Health
INCREMNT reads health data (weight, heart rate, HRV, sleep, respiratory rate, body temperature, workouts) and writes workout summaries to Apple Health via HealthKit.
Health data read from Apple Health is used for:
- Prefilling your profile (body weight)
- Recovery and readiness context displayed in the app
- AI coaching insights (when AI Coach is enabled)
When AI coaching is enabled, health metrics you've opted into may be sent to INCREMNT's servers and processed by OpenRouter as described above. You control which health metrics are included in AI Coach Settings.
Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining. It is never sold to data brokers or third parties. See Apple's privacy policy.
Analytics
Anonymous usage analytics are collected via PostHog (EU-hosted) to help us improve the app. Analytics track events like workouts started, completed, and PRs hit, along with exercise names and workout duration. All analytics are tied to a random ID that can't be linked to you.
Other Integrations
Strava — completed workouts sync automatically if connected. Disconnect any time in Settings. See Strava's privacy policy.
Apple Calendar — scheduled workout days appear in your calendar. No data sent to us.
Sentry — crash reports and performance data are sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. These contain technical diagnostics only, not workout or health data.
Your rights
- Disable AI Coach in Settings to stop sharing workout data with AI services.
- Revoke Health, Strava, and Calendar access in your device's system settings.
- Delete the hosted backup and stop future uploads via Reset All Data in Settings. No sign-in required.
- Delete a connected account and all associated data from Settings in the app.
For any data requests, contact support@incremnt.app.
